A Day in My Barn Studio

posted in: Felting 9

Two Christmas knitting projects sit in the basket on the table in front of me. One is 3/4 finished, the other 3/4 unfinished. Both for my college kids who keep looking longingly at my knitting needles in hopes that I will finish their gifts in time for them to take them back to college. So, I have no business spending the day in my barn studio felting…but alas, that is exactly what I did yesterday.

I have had a dark charcoal Gotland felting batt that keeps calling to me. When I reached the point that I could not sleep at night for thinking of felting with it, I decided it was time to indulge myself. After working the better part of one day, all it is lacking now are three awesome buttons. However, with snowstorms, ice, and forthcoming farmstay guests and dinner to prepare, I must be patient until I can make the hour long trek  to my favorite felting store that sells amazing buttons, and whose sign reads, “the candy store for knitters, spinners, felters & weavers”.

The vest combines our Gotland wool and curly locks, and silk-the perfect warmth for Vermont winters!

The vest is cute! You’ll get going on the kids’ knitting. Some days are knitting days and some days are full of other fun things!

Oh my, that was time very well spent. What a beautiful vest and how wonderful to know exactly where the wool came from. Your pictures are just lovely. Oh I dream of snow. So much rain in England right now. Keep warm!
