Three more people have been introduced to the world of natural dyeing. Last Saturday we hosted a natural dye workshop here on the farm. The workshop focused on using locally growing plants and flowers as dye material. We learned how to mordant the yarn and then how to harvest the plants and prepare the dye bath.

After lunch, we began dyeing our sample skeins of yarn. Everyone was amazed that such murky looking dye baths would produce such wonderful colors. At the end of the day, we had a lovely rainbow of colors.

My next Natural Dye workshop will be held on August 21 at the lovely Sachem Farmhouse and B&B in Warren, CT. I am helping Jennifer launch her own fiber arts classes on her farm this summer! You can register for the class by contacting Jennifer at info@thesachemfarmhouse.com.

The yarns are just beautiful! The blues are gorgeous, too! No wonder you got that happy letter.

I can’t believe you will be in Warren in August. That is where my brother and his family live and I am only about 30 minutes away. If I can find the extra funds, I will definitely be there!!
